The November meeting of SLCREA was held on November 19 at Parkway Elementary School. We were treated to a Thanksgiving feast prepared by the school’s cafeteria staff. Third grade students entertained us with musical numbers and gave us a warm welcome. A huge thanks to the school and its staff for hosting this event for the second year.

November 19, 2015 will be the next general meeting of the SLCREA. We will meet at Parkway Elementary for a Thanksgiving Diner. The cost for the meal will be $3.00. Remember to bring the gifts for the children that you signed for at the October meeting. The gifts are to unwrapped and labeled with the name of the child and the caseworker. Also if you have collected any children’s books for donation, please bring them also.

Governor Rick Scott has declared November 15, 2015 to be Retired Educator Day. This day is to “celebrate and recognize Florida’s retired educators for their dedication to empowering students and strengthen our local statewide communities.”

In addition to the State’s recognition, our local governments and community are also celebrating Saint Lucie County’s retired teachers with special recognition.
Following is a list of events that will show appreciation for the retired teachers of Saint Lucie County. Please plan on attending to show your support.
On November 4 we will meet at the Aquarium located on the east end of the South Bridge at 10:00. After enjoying the aquarium we will go for lunch at the Manatee Grill (once was Mangrove Mattie’s). We will complete the day by returning to the Saint Lucie Historical Museum, located next to the aquarium. Tickets for both the Aquarium and the Museum will be $5.00 total.
SLCREA September meeting will begin at 11:30 on 9/14/2015.
